Draw the picture.
The eastbound plane has gone 2*200 = 400 miles in 2 hours.

The northeast bound plane has gone 2*283 = 566 miles.

The angle between the two routs is 45 degrees
---
The distance between the planes is the side of a triangle opposite
the 45 degree angle.

Use the Law of Cosines to find that distance
d = sqrt[400^2 + 566^2 - 2*400*566*Cos(45)]
---
d = sqrt[160178.0495]
d = 400.2225 miles
