Question 212317: you and your brother started biking at noon from places that are 52 miles apart. You rode toward eachother and met at 2:00 p.m. Your brother's average speed was 4 mi/h faster than your average speed. Find both speeds. So how do i begin this problem, i dont know what to do.

lET X & (X=4) BE THE 2 SPEEDS.
52=(X+X+4)*2
52=(2X+4)*2
52=4X+8
4X=52-8
4X=44
X=44/4
X=11 MPH FOR THE SLOWER RIDER.
11+4=15 MPH FOR THE FASTER RIDER.
PROOF:
52=(11+15)*2
52=26*2
52=52
