Question 210925: A cheetah can accelerate from rest to 24.0 m/s in 6.06 s.
(a) Assuming constant acceleration, how far has the cheetah run in this time?
(b) After sprinting for just 3.03 s, is the cheetah's speed 12.0 m/s, more than 12.0 m/s, or less than 12.0 m/s?
Explain.

(c) What is the cheetah's average speed for the first 3.03 s of its sprint?
For the second 3.03 s of its sprint?

(d) Calculate the distance covered by the cheetah in the first 3.03 s and the second 3.03 s.
first 3.03 s
second 3.03 s

A cheetah can accelerate from rest to 24.0 m/s in 6.06 s.
(a) Assuming constant acceleration, how far has the cheetah run in this time?
a = 24/6.06 = 400/101 m/sec/sec
s = (at^2)/2 = (400/101)*6.06^2/2
s = 2*6*6.06 meters
s = 72.72 meters
---------------------
(b) After sprinting for just 3.03 s, is the cheetah's speed 12.0 m/s, more than 12.0 m/s, or less than 12.0 m/s?
v = at = (400/101)*3.03
v = 12 m/sec
Explain. No need to explain, it's a calculation.
------------------------
(c) What is the cheetah's average speed for the first 3.03 s of its sprint?
For the second 3.03 s of its sprint?
Its speed increases linearly, so it's 1/2 of the 12 m/sec
= 6 m/sec
------------
(d) Calculate the distance covered by the cheetah in the first 3.03 s and the second 3.03 s.
first 3.03 s
s = at^2/2 = (400/101*3.03^2)/2
s = 18.18 meters
------------------
second 3.03 s
= 72.72 - 18.18 = 54.54 meters
