The plane flies at 280 miles per hour.
A second airplane leaves Tucson at 2:15 pm and is scheduled to land in Baltimore
15 minutes before the first airplane.
At what rate must the second airplane travel to arrive on schedule?
:
Find the travel time of the 1st airplane
= 8 hrs
should arrive at Baltimore in 8 hrs, at 9:30
therefore
The 2nd plane, 15 min earlier, should arrive at 9:15
2nd plane travel time: 9:15 - 2:15 = 7 hrs

= 320 mph to accomplish this
