I tried this 1/100*120 seconds... this is not right, I dont understand why.

I tried this 1/100*120 seconds... this is not right, I dont understand why.

0.01 km/sec = 0.01 km/sec *60 sec/min * 60 min/hr
= 0.01*60*60 km*sec*min/(sec*min*hr)
= 36 km/hr

I'm not exactly sure how you derived the 120 in , but I suspect that you added 60 seconds per minute to 60 minutes per hour. That makes as much sense as adding 3 apples to 4 math homework assignments -- which is to say no sense at all.

Each minute consists of 60 seconds. So, the first minute is 60 seconds, and the second minute has 60 seconds, so 2 minutes has seconds. 3 minutes would be seconds, and so on. But an hour has 60 minutes, so an hour is , for 60 terms of 60 each which is the same as

Since 1 hour equals 3,600 seconds (60 seconds = 1 min, & 60 mins = 1 hour), and since , the following proportion can be used to find the amount of kilometers the car travels in 1 hour:

k = 3,600(.01) = 36 kilometers.
