Let x = number of barrels transferred
then
220 + x = (2/3)(510-x)
.
Now, solve for x:
220 + x = (2/3)(510-x)
Multiply both sides by 3:
660 + 3x = (2)(510-x)
660 + 3x = 1020 - 2x
660 + 5x = 1020
5x = 360
x = 72 barrels
