Question 195542: Marcie can walk 8 miles in the same time
as Frank walks 6 miles. If Marcie walks 1 mile per hour
faster than Frank, then how fast does each person walk?

Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
st=d s=speed, t=time, d=distance
t=d/s
Let Marcie's speed=m
8/m=6/(m-1) since the times are equal.
8(m-1)=6m
8m-8=6m
2m=8
m=4 mph
3 mph Frank's speed.
