Question 179236: Translate into verbal expression. By driving 10 miles per hour slower than Kathy, Tony travels the same distance in 3 hours that Kathy travels in 2 hours.
Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 You'll need to apply the distance formula:
d = rt
where
d is distance
r is rate or speed
t is time
.
Let x = rate traveled by Kathy
then
x-10 = rate traveled by Tony
.
Since the distance traveled is the same in 3 hours:
2x = 3(x-10)
