The owner of a baseball team had a stadium built such that the outfield fence was the same distance from home plate at all points. About how many acres did the fair area of the baseball field cover ?
--------------------------
Since it's the same distance, it's part of a circle.
Area = PI*r^2/4 (it's 1/4 of a circle)
Area = PI*350*350/4 square feet
= 96211.27 sq ft
= 2.209 acres

---------------
The baseball field covers one-fourth of a circle with radius = 350 ft.
-----------------
Area = (1/4)(pi)r^2
Area = (1/4)(pi)*350^2 = (1/4)384845.1001 = 96211.275sq. ft.
----------------
Dividing by 43,560 you get 2.208... acres
