The question is: The distance an object falls is directly proportional to the square of the time it has been falling. After 6 seconds it has fallen 1296 feet. How long will it take to fall 2304 feet.

I can say:

That's what proportional means. is some fixed
constant that is always true for the falling object.
It must also be true that
where is the time since it started to fall
I can find from the 1st equation


Now plug this into the 2nd equation



It will take 8 sec for the object to fall 2304 ft
