Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d=st
st=168
s=168/t
.
2s(t-3)=168
s=84/(t-3)
.
On the graph below of the 2 formulas for s where the lines intersect in positive territory x=t=6, y=s=28 Answer
when t=3 s=56
.
Check:
6*28=168 mi
3*56=168 mi

Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D = R*T
To:
D = r*t
From:
D = 2r*(t - 3)
Same distances:
D = D
r*t = 2r*(t - 3)
r*t - 2r*(t - 3) = 0
r( t - 2(t - 3) ) = 0
r( t - 2t + 6 ) = 0
r( -t + 6 ) = 0
t = 6
So, To:
D = r*t
168 = r*6
28 = r
