Distance(d) equals Rate(r) times Time(t) or d=rt; r=d/t and t=d/r
Now we know that distance going=distance returning =d
time going=d/50
time returning=d/40
We are told that the above two times add up to 7.2 hr, so:
d/50+d/40=7.2 multiply each term by 200
4d+5d=1440
9d=1440 divide each side by 9
d=160 mi-------------------------------distance to Disneyland

3.2 + 4=7.2
7.2=7.2
