A consultant traveled 7 hours to attend a meeting. The return trip took only 6 hours because the speed was 4 miles per hour faster. What was the consultant's speed each way?
---------------------
To the meeting DATA:
Time = 7 hrs ; rate = x mph ; distance = 7x miles
------------------
From the meeting DATA:
Time = 6 hrs ; rate = x+4 mph ; distance = 6(x+4) miles
-----------------
EQUATION:
distance to = distance from
7x = 6x+24
x = 24 mph (speed to the meeting)
x+4 = 28 mph (speed from the meeting)
