The car traveled for 1/2 hour at 49 mph, so it must have gone miles. Since the car left at 8AM, and reached the snowplow 30 minutes later, it must have arrived at the snowplow at 8:30AM. The snowplow covered the same distance, 24.5 miles, but started at 5AM. In other words, the snowplow travelled 24.5 miles in 3.5 hours (8:30 - 5). mph.
