Let s = still water speed
then
(s+5) = speed downstream

Write a time equation: Time = Distance/speed
:
Time down stream = 5 h
= 5

Multiply equation by (s+5) to get rid of the denominators, results:
60 = 5(s+5)

60 = 5s + 25
:
5s = 60 - 25
5s = 35
s = 35/5
s = 7 mph still water speed to return in 5 hours
