Question 1194755: Suppose a driver with car leaves home at 8AM and first travels 30 km/hr for two hours, then stops one hour for coffee. He then travels at 80 km/hr for the next five hours, to arrive at the destination. (we imagine a magical car that does not need to accelerate or decelerate)
1. How many hours was this trip, from start to finish?
2. At what time did the driver arrive at the destination?
3. How many km did the driver cover?
4. what was the average rate of speed (including the rest time!), in km/hr for the entire trip?
5. Draw a well-labeled graph on graph paper that shows the distance traveled vs. time function outlined in this problem. Use t=0 for 8AM, with t being the hours passed after 8AM, with vertical axis variable s having units km.
6. Label the points 9AM and Noon with their coordinates on your sketch. Then use your sketch to find the average rate of km per hour traveled between 9AM and Noon?
7. Last, write the piecewise formula for the function in your graph, and label it on your sketch.

The question or one like it was answered one or two days ago.
8AM could be point 0 on a time line.
Total time of the trip from start until destination: hours
Total distance to destination: kilometers
those should be obvious, and you can decide what else you need to do.
