Question 1192536: An aircraft carrier, travelling at 60 mph, left a port at 7:00 A.M. At 9:00 A.M., another aircraft carrier left the same port, traveling the same route at 80 mph. At what time will the second carrier overtake the first one?

Note those are impossible speeds for aircraft carriers.
Ignoring that fact....
The first carrier travels for 2 hours at 60 mph, traveling 120 miles, before the second carrier starts.
The second carrier overtakes the first at the rate of 80-60=20mph.
The number of hours it takes to make up 120 miles at 20mph is 120/20=6.
6 hours after 9:00 AM is 3:00 PM.
ANSWER: 3 pm
