Question 1181983: If an airplane Is flying 140 miles per hour East and turns In a smooth curve with a diameter of 3 miles What is it's centripetal acceleration in m/s²
Answer by ikleyn(52884)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

Centripetal acceleration is

    a = ,

where v is the uniform linear speed and R is the radius of the circular track.

Substitute your values

    140 mph = 1.609*140 = 225.26 km/h =  = 62.57 m/s

and

    R = 1.609*1500 = 2413.5 m,

and calculate.

Happy calculations (!)
