Question 1172454: Nolan is walking at a constant speed modeled by the equation 2/3t = 1/5d, where t is time in hours and d is distance in miles. What is Nolan's speed in miles per hour?
Thank you

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the equation is 2/3 * t = 1/5 * d
multiply both sides of the equation by 15 to get:
10 * t = 3 * d
divide both sides of the equation by 3 to get:
10/3 * t = d
the basic form of the equation is r * t = d
r is the rate
t is the time
d is the distance.
in this equation, r = 10/3 which means the average speed is 10/3 miles per hour.
