Question 1166109: Two planes start from the same point and fly in opposite directions. The first plane is flying 45 mph slower than the second plane. In 2h , the planes are 590 mi apart. Find the rate of each plane.
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the first plane is going x-45 mph and the second plane x mph
in 2 hours they have gone 2x-90 and 2x miles and that equals 590 miles
4x-90=590
4x=680
x=170 mph faster plane
x-45=125 mph slower plane
