Question 1161445: Macmac and Jay traveled at the same time at the rate of 20 m/min, from the same point on a circular track of radius 600 m. If Macmac walks along the circumference and Jay towards the center, find the distance between them after the 10 minutes?

Let the center of the circle be the origin; have Macmac and Jay start at (600,0).

Jay walks 200m towards the center in 10 minutes, ending at (400,0).

Macmac walks 200m along the circumference (assume counterclockwise, as is customary in trigonometry).

The circumference of the circle is 2pi times the radius, 1200pi; the fraction of the circumference Macmac travels is .

The angle through which Macmac travels is degrees.

Macmac's position after the 10 minutes is (,).

Use a calculator and the distance formula to find the distance between them after the 10 minutes.

(My calculations showed a distance of 257.72m)
