At 10 a.m. a plane leaves Toronto for Vancouver
At 11 a.m. a plane leaves Vancouver for Toronto
In 1 hour ( between 10 -11)the first plane has flown 500 km
At 11.00 am the distance between them is 3000-500 - 2500 km
They are moving towards each other. Catch up speed = (500 +500) 1000 km/h

Time they meet 2500/1000
they meet after 2.5 hours from 11.00 am
You know when they met.

How much of a head start does the T to V plane
have in km ?

km
Let = the total distance the T to V plane travels
in order to meet the other plane
-------------------------
After 1 hr has passed, start a stop watch. Let =
the time in hrs on the stopwatch when the planes pass each other.

(2) hrs
--------------------------
The stopwatch was started at 11 AM, so the
planes pass each other at
13.5 is 1:30 PM
