Let d be one way distance.


Then the time flying "to there" is    hours;  the time flying back is    hours.


The total time equation is


     +  = 6.8 hours.


Multiply both sides by  500*350. You will get


    350*d + 500*d = = 6.8*500*350

    850d          = 119000

       d =  = 1400.


ANSWER.  One way distance is 1400 miles.
