Let "d" be the distance to the airport.


Then the time from home to the destination point at 30 mph is   hours.

     The time from home to the destination point at 40 mph is   hours.



The difference of these times is 13 minutes PLUS 7 minutes, or 20 minutes, which is    of an hour.


It gives you this "time" equation

To solve it, multiply both sides by 120.  You will get


    4d - 3d = 40,

     d      = 40.


ANSWER.  The distance to the airport is 40 miles.
