Question 1130835: I usually walk from home to work. This morning I walked for 10 minutes until I was halfway to work. I then realized that I would be late if I kept walking. I ran twice as fast as I walk. How many minutes total did it take me to get from home to work?

You walked the same amount of distance as you ran, and if running was twice as fast, then only needed half the time.

Five minutes running.
Total time was 15 minutes.

If you covered halfway in ten minutes walking, then running twice as fast as walking, you will cover the second half of the distance in 5 = 10/2 minutes.


In all, such a journey will take 10 + 5 = 15 minutes.
