a car travels 272km at an average speed of 32km/h. on the return journey the average speed is increased to 48km/h. calculate the average speed over the whole journey
--------------
The total distance is 544 km.
You can find the 2 times, going and returning.
Then find km/hr by dividing the kms by the hours.
===========
Or use:
Avg speed = 2*32*48/(32+48)
Notice that the distance is not relevant if they are equal going and returning.
Also notice it's not the average of 32 & 48 because more time is spent at 32 km/hr.
