Let t be the time she biked.


The she walked for (9-t) hours.


The total distance is


   10t + 3*(9-t) = 55


   10t + 27 - 3t = 55

   7t  = 55 - 27  = 28

    t = 28/7 = 4.


Answer.  She biked 4 hours and walked 9-4 = 5 hours.


Check.   1)10*4 + 3*5 = 55 miles.   ! Correct !
