After 36 minutes, Kat began running at a rate of 2 minutes per lap. How
many minutes more will the two have to run in order to reach their goal?

1.  In 36 minutes, Ron ran  = 12 laps.

    52 - 12 = 40 laps remained.


2.  After that, every 6 minutes Kat makes 3 laps and Ron makes 2 laps.

    So, together they make 3+2 = 5 laps every 6 minutes.

    Thus in  = 48 minutes they make 40 laps running together.


3.  In all, they spend 36 minutes + 48 minutes = 84 minutes to reach their goal.
