Question 1099489: The width of a brick is half the length, and the length is 2
inches less than eight times the height. If the sum of the three dimensions is 26.25 inches, find the volume of the brick.

Answer by jorel1380(3719)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let h be the height of the brick. Then, its' length is 8h-2, and its' width is 8h-2/2=4h-1. So:
h+8h-2+4h-1=26.25
13h=29.25
h=2.25
8h-2=16
4h-1=8
length x width x height=288 cu.in.
