1 ft cubic of silt was mixed into 5 ft cubic of soil containing 10% silt. What is the silt content of the mixture ?
A) 8% B) 25% C) 20% D) 10%

Silt volume is  1 cubic ft + 0.1*5 cubic ft = 1.5 cubic ft.

The total volume is 1 cubic ft + 5 cubic ft = 6 cubic ft.


The ratio of the silt volume to the total volume is   = 0.25 = 25%.


Answer.  25%.  Option B).
