Question 1097202: A jet crosses the ocean with an airspeed of 430 miles per hour. The cost C (in dollars) per passenger is given by C(x)=130+x/12+35,500/x
A) What is the cost per passenger if there isn't any wind? Round your answer to two decimals.
B) What is the cost per passenger if there is a tail wind of 60 miles per hour? Round your answer to two decimals.
C) What is the cost per passenger if there is a head wind of 50 miles per hour? Round your answer to two decimals.
I've tried putting zero for x in A, i've tried putting 60 for x in the 35,000/x fraction, and tried the 50 miles per hour in the x/12. I can't seem to completely understand this problem or how to set it up properly. I've looked in my book (Not the best book) and online. Thank you in advance!!
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x= airspeed (assumed) which is for A 430 mph, B 490 mph and C 380 mph. Use those for x in each of the problems.
C(430)=130+(430/12)+35,500/430=$248.39
C(490)=130+490/12+35500/490=$243.28
C(380)=130+(380/12)+(35500/380)=$255.09
