Question 1090707: Sarah and Jim leave a train station at the same time traveling in opposite directions. Sarah's train is traveling 20 mi/h faster than Jim's train. After 3 hours, they were 270 miles apart. How fast was each train traveling?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n be the speed of jim's traing. Then Sarah's train would be n+20. So:
3n+3(n+20)=270
6n=210
n=35
n+20=55
