speed going was x
time was 6 hours
distance was 6x
coming back speed was x+22
time was 4 hours
distance was 4(x+22)=4x+88
those two numbers are the same, so 6x=4x+88
2x=88
x=44 mph, and distance was 264 miles ANSWER
check with return trip at 66 mph for 4 hours, which is also 264 miles.
