Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L=5W-6
AREA=L*W
48=(5W-6)W
48=5W^2-6W
5W^2-6W-48=0
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION WE GET:

W=(6+-SQRT[-6^2-4*5*-48])/2*5
W=(6+-SQRT[36+960])/10
W=(6+-SQRT996)/10
W=(6+31.56)/10
W=37.56/10
W=3.76 FOR THE WIDTH OF THE GARDEN.
L=5*3.76-6=12.8 FOR THE LENGTH OF THE GARDEN
PROOF
3.76*12.8=48
48=48
