Question 1080060: Two slow trains are traveling on the same route on parallel tracks. Train I is 5.8 kilometers from you and traveling away from you at 0.7 kilometers per hour. Train II is 58.6 kilometers and traveling toward you at 2.6 kilometers per hour.After how many hours will the trains be at the same distance from you?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train 1 is traveling away from you, and train II is traveling toward you, so let t be the time they travel until they are equidistant from you. Then:
5.8 + 0.7t=58.6-2.6t
3.3t=52.8
t=16 hours before they are the same distance from you (17km). ☺☺☺☺
