Question 1079570: Two cars M and N start at the same point and at the same time and travel in opposite directions. Car N travelling 20 kph slower than M. If they are 420 kilometers apart after 3 hours, find the rates of each.
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let m be the speed of car M. Then car N is m-20. So:
3m+3(m-20)=420
6m-60=420
6m=480
m=80 k/hr as the speed of car M; 60 k/hr as the speed of car N. ☺☺☺☺
