Time to walk a block is x minutes, and it takes (1/6)x minutes to skate it.
Time to walk 36 blocks is 36x
36x-48=number of minutes it takes him to skate it=6x minutes, since 1/6 of 36 x
30x=48
x=48/30=1.60 minutes to walk a block or 8 minutes to walk 5 blocks. That is 0.625 block/minute
That would make him able to skate 6 times faster or 3.75 blocks per minute. ANSWER
