You can exclude the first phrase from the condition without loss of the content.

It is even better and much more correctly to exclude it because it is (worst than) tautology and only makes the meaning more dark.

Solution

1.  The distance between the cities is 11*30 = 330 miles.


2.  The speed under the question is  = 33 mph.
