Question 1074940: You have a 15-mile commute into work. Since you leave very early, the trip going to work is easier than the trip home. You can travel to work in the same time that it takes for you to make it 12 miles on the trip back home. Your average speed coming home is 7 miles per hour slower than your average speed going to work. What is your average speed going to work?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n be your speed going to work. Then your speed coming home is n-7. So:
12/n-7=15/n
15n-105=12n
3n=105
n=35 mph is your speed going to work; 28 mph is your speed coming home. ☺☺☺☺
