car travels at x mph, and x*t=960km, so t for car=960/x.
plane travels at 3x mph
It takes the plane 960/3x hours to travel the distance.
That is 8 hours less than 960/x, which is the car's time.
Therefore, (960/3x)+8=960/x
multiply everything by 3x
960+24x=2880
24x=1920
x=80 km/h ANSWER (car)
3x=240 km/h ANSWER (plane)
It takes the plane 4 hours and it takes the car 12 hours.
