One of the typical catchup problems.

RT=D.
                     SPEED      TIME       DISTANCE
MOTORCYC              50         t           d
BIKE                  10        t+1          d

Make the system and solve.

at 50 miles per hours, how long will it take the motorcycle to overtake the bicycle?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
t = = = of an hour = 15 minutes.
10 = 10 miles is the distance between them when the motorcycle starts moving.
50-10 = 40 mph is their relative speed.
Must be solved momentarily.
Let time the motorbike takes, be T
Then time bicycle takes = T + 1
The following DISTANCE equation is thus formed: 50T = 10(T + 2)
Solve for T, the time the motorbike takes!
