What distance did each car travel in 4 hrs?

Let u be the rate of the slower car, in km/h.
Then the rate of the faster car is (u+8) km/h.

You have this equation

760 = 4*u + 4*(u+8)),

which says that the two cars together covered the full distance of 760 km in 4 hours.

Simplify and solve for "u":

8u + 32 = 760  --->  8u = 760 - 32 = 728 --->  u =  = 91 km/h.

The speed of the slower car was 91 km/h.

Hence, it covered 4*91 = 364 km before meeting.

The second car covered 760 - 364 = 396 km.
