Question 1045065: Jane took 30min to drive her boat upstream to water-ski at her favorite spot. Coming back in the day, at the same boat speed, to her 20 min. If the current in that part of the river is 7 km per hr, what was her boat speed in still water?
Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let r be Jane's rate in still water. Then:
(1/2)/(r+7)=(1/3)/(r-7)
r+7/3=r-7/2
2r+14=3r-21
r=35 kmh. ☺☺☺☺
