We basically have a ratio here where we can say that the ratio of 600 miles to 10 inches is the same as the ratio of x miles to 18 inches


So the ratio looks like this:

600%2F10=x%2F18


%28600%2F10%29%2A18=x Multiply both sides by 18


10800%2F10=x Multiply


1080=x Simplify



So our answer is x=1080


So the distance between Chicago and Denver is 1,080 miles
