Question 1039183: An airplane travels 2080 miles in the same time that a car travels 260 miles. If the rate of the plane is 350 miles per hour faster than the rate of the car, find the rate of the plane.
Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let r be the rate of the car; then the plane travels at r+350. So:
2080/r+350=260/r
2080r=260(r+350)
1820r=91000
r=50 mph
r+350=400 mph!!!!!!!!!!
