Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let nuts at 5 be x and nuts at 4.20 be y
x+y = 60 subtract x on both sides
x-x+y = 60-x
y = 60-x We'll use this value for y next
`````````````````````````````````````
5x+4.20y = 4.80(60) substitute for y:
5x+4.20(60-x) = 4.80(60)
5x+252-4.20x = 288
0.80x = 36
x = 45
You need 45kg of $5 nuts and 60-45 = 15kg of $4.20 nuts
Let n=first mix of nuts. Then:
5n+4.2(60-n)=60(4.80)
5n+252-4.2n=288
.8n=36
n=45
The grocer needs 45 kilos of the $5 nuts, and 15 of the $4.20 nuts!!!!!!!!!!
