Question 1030804: Isabel's boat has a top speed of
20
miles per hour in still water. While traveling on a river at top speed, she went
40
miles upstream in the same amount of time she went
60

Answer by jorel555(1290)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let c= the speed of the current. Then:
40/20-c=60/20+c
40(20+c)=60(20-c)
800+40c=1200-60c
100c=400
c=4 mph as the speed of the current!!!!!!!!!!!!!
