Question 1021381: Set up an equation and solve the problem. Keep in mind the suggestions we offered in this section.
The distance between City A and City B is 325 miles. A freight train leaves City A and travels toward City B at 45 miles per hour. At the same time, a passenger train leaves City B and travels toward City A at 85 miles per hour. How long will it take the two trains to meet?

Answer by ewatrrr(24785)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi
Trains will travel the same amount of time before they meet. t = D/r

85D = 45*325 - 45D
130D= 45*325
D = 14625/40 = 112.5
T = 112.5/45 = 2.5 Hr
Checking
2.5hr = (325-112.5)mi/85mph checks!
