A satellite can move at 17,000 miles per hour. How many hours will it take to reach a star that is three light years away?
Recall that 1 light year = 9.5 ∙ 10^12 kilometers and 1 kilometer = 0.62 miles.

Let me make couple of notices before somebody will start calculations :=)
1. The closest star to the Sun is Proxima Centauri at the distance of 4.24 light years (according this article from Wikipedia).
2. This velocity, 17,000 miles per hour, is the first cosmic velocity.
By speaking about the flight to the stars, it makes sense to operate with velocities starting from the third cosmic,
which is 16.7 ~ 37600 miles per hour.
