Suppose that during a test drive of two cars, one car travels at 324 miles in the same time it takes a second car to travel 270 miles. if the speed of the one car is 12 miles per hour faster than the speed of the send car, find the speed of the both cars.
Let speed of faster car be S

Then speed of slower car = S - 12

The following time equation is formed: 

324(S - 12) = 270S ------- Cross-multiplying

324S - 3,888 = 270S

324S - 270S = 3,888

54S = 3,888

S, or speed of faster car = , or 

Speed of slower car: 72 - 12, or
